Buell and Buell industrial marketing media public relations Bill’s the guy who was retained a few years agoby a six-employee industrial company to take over their marketing, advertising, and public relations. His first act was to alternately pout and badger them until he got his way. His way was to change the company’s ho-hum name of HVLS Fan Co. to one that was a little more noticeable: Big Ass Fans. A little controversial, yes, but boy, it created big buzz, and that created big sales. That name change wasn’t the only magic Bill worked. In the first year alone, he leveraged his considerable personality and know-how to place an unprecedented seventy-two press releases in an array of trade and consumer magazines – both national and international. In that first year, he also managed to get twenty-two full-length articles into those same print outlets. Because of Bill’s marketing savvy, twenty radio and television stations, including the BBC, reported on the company and its extraordinary growth.
That six-employee business now employs over 100 people. We’re not surprised by Bill’s track record. Spend just a few minutes talking to the guy and you see he knows how to promote a business. From the smallest details at a trade show – the things you’d probably never think of – to garnering domestic and international media coverage, the guy’s got game. In this case, it’s the public and media relations game, and few people shine at it like he does. Bill’s accomplishments haven’t gone unnoticed. He took a company from nowhere to somewhere big, and accepted the 2006 Trade Success Award from the Kentucky World Trade Center on their behalf. He was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve on the District Export Council. Most recently he was elected President of the Bluegrass Global Affairs Association. He has been a long-time Advisory Board Member for Hooved Animal Rescue and Protection Society (HARPS). Bill certainly isn’t the poster child for “corporate” or “international” public and media relations. He’s relaxed. He’s funny. He’s not the “buttoned-down” type. He’s the person who you want to take out for a beer. Don’t let that fool you. He can and will make your firm’s public and media relations campaign produce big results.
When not working you will find him riding horses. Most weekends he’ll be on the road, pulling a horse trailer, looking for new trails and experiences.
